     John Crockett Adams was born on 26 February 1878 in Shelby County, Tennessee.3,4 He was the son of Major Thomas Patton Adams and Mary Elizabeth Bragg.3 John Crockett Adams married Hazel Patton, daughter of Charles Hayes Patton and Ella Virginia Athey, on 19 October 1901 in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee.5,3 John Crockett Adams died on 3 August 1957 in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee, at age 79.1,3 He was buried in Chambers Chapel Cemetery, Lakeland, Shelby County, Tennessee, Find A Grave Memorial# 7664713.6,7
     He appeared on the 1880 Federal census Tennessee in the household of his parents Major Thomas Patton Adams and Mary Elizabeth Bragg.2 John Crockett Adams and Hazel Patton appeared on the 1900 Federal census of Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee, enumerated 11 June 1900.8 John Crockett Adams and Hazel Patton appeared on the 1910 Federal census of Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee, enumerated 28 April 1910. Their children Thomas Patton and Virginia Earle were listed as living with them. His mother Mary Elizabeth Bragg and siblings Sterling Fowlkes Adams, Henry Bragg Adams and Annie Tennant Adams were also in the household.9 John Crockett Adams registered for the draft for World War I on September 1918, while living at Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee, reporting he was employed as salesman at Wm. R. Morse Dry Goods.4 He and Hazel Patton appeared on the 1920 Federal census of Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee, enumerated 5 January 1920.
