     Mathurin's birth date is unknown. He married Marie Joseph Soumande, daughter of Francois Marie Soumande Delorme and Elizabeth Charlotte Gaultier de Varennes, in 1770. They had two sons. One went to Detroit with his father, the other drowned in the Port of Montreal.^2,3 He was killed by Indians.¹
