     Mark Snow was born on 30 January 1800 in Montpelier, Caledonia County, Vermont, now Washington County.4,5,1,3 He was the son of Jonathan Snow and Lydia Hammett. Mark Snow married Annis Butler on 27 January 1825 in Edgar County, Illinois.6,7 Mark Snow died on 27 October 1848 in Catlin, Vermillion County, Illinois, at age 48. His headstone says October 26th.1,3 He was buried in God's Acre Cemetery, Catlin, Vermillion County, Illinois.6
     Mark was also known as Marcus.6 He moved to Butler's Point, Illinois, now Catlin, Vermillion County, in 1821 as the driver of one of the teams of James Butler, his future father-in-law.6
