     Ernest Fox Nichols was born on 1 June 1869 in 707 Delaware St., Leavenworth, Leavenworth County, Kansas.^3,2 He was the son of Alonzo Curtis Nichols and Sophronia Fox. Ernest Fox Nichols married Katharine Williams West on 16 June 1894 in Hamilton, Madison County, New York.³ Ernest Fox Nichols died on 29 April 1924 in Washington, District of Columbia, at age 54. He died on stage, just after reading a paper to the National Academy of Sciences.⁴
