     Thomas Barnard immigrated in 1638. He recieved land in the first division in Salisbury, Massachusetts Bay Colony, now Essex County, 1640 and 1643.3 Thomas was one of the original purchasers of Nantucket though he never moved there. He transferred half his share to his brother Robert and the other half to his son Nathaniel.2 He was one of the first settlers of Amesbury, Massachusetts Bay Colony, now Essex County, as early as 1672.3 His widow Eleanor (?) was made administrator of his estate in October 1677.4
